Josh began his professional career at age 5, starting a 12-year career as an actor in feature films, television and on the Broadway stage. He is best known for his portrayal of the iconic best friend Paul Pfeiffer in The Wonder Years. Having been disenfranchised with the business part of the entertainment industry, Josh embarked on the second act of his career as a corporate and intellectual property transactional attorney, where he spent over a dozen years structuring and negotiating complex commercial transactions, running intellectual property protection, and developing and implementing monetization strategies. Josh specialized in working with artists and brands that utilized the intellectual property and persona of a human and was part of the birth of influencer marketing. He learned that the true value of the human’s role in the commercial world is to tell that human’s unique authentic story in a way that elevates both the brand and the artist.  At Spotlight, Josh is bringing that experience and knowledge from his prior lives to empower artists to bridge the gap between creativity and commerce.

A musician since age seven, Dan has always lived at the intersection of creativity, law, and wealth — a right-brained artist with a left-brained discipline for solving hard problems. He began his career at Sullivan & Cromwell in 2002, where he discovered a calling for advising individuals and families on their lives, wealth, and work. In 2015, he launched Scott Law to focus on legacy planning — a practice he distinguishes from traditional estate planning — helping people preserve not just their financial assets, but their purpose and cultural impact.

But legacy isn't something left behind. It's something lived. That conviction led Dan to found Spotlight Advisory Group, where he expanded beyond legal counsel into a broader management and advisory role. Today, Spotlight is a one-of-a-kind model that helps creatives build the financial freedom to create for a living, amplify their cultural impact, and leave a legacy worth living toward.

Dan was a longtime contributor to Forbes and Entrepreneur and speaks regularly on wealth, purpose, and legacy.

J.R. is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNING™ practitioner with over 20 years of experience in wealth management and financial planning. He is also an artist, songwriter and musician, performing in bands and playing guitar for over 30 years. J.R. has always believed in helping others find and live their purpose, but it was seeing his own family struggle to pay for medical treatments his brother needed that made him want to help them achieve the financial freedom to do so. For J.R., asset management and financial planning has always been about designing a person's life to fulfill their passions and dreams while managing their day-to-day financial reality. Following his own passion for music and being an artist is what led him to join Spotlight.
